Dreamality Sub Realm
The fog that argues you should not leave — and the rarest badge in the demo.
The Sub Realm is not always a room with a nameplate. You know it by the fog, by the voice, and by the badge that fewer than five percent of players have earned. This is the S-tier of Dreamality: not because it is hard to reach, but because the dream wants you to leave before the seventh line.
This guide is heavy spoilers. If you have not finished the demo at least once, go to the demo walkthrough first.
What the Sub Realm is
The part of the dream that argues you should stay. Fog, emptiness, a voice that does not match the daylight in the park. The Sub Realm is where Dream Guy and the dream itself converge: both are telling you that the waking world is not worth returning to.
The badge There’s nothing beyond. is the closest thing the demo has to a villain monologue. The Sub Realm does not chase you. It preaches.
The seven refusals
The badge description is seven steps. Players who find the trigger must stay through all seven to earn the award:
I. It is safer here. II. You ought to return. III. There is nothing outside for a dreamer like you. IV. There is a reason you were placed here. V. What lies beyond bears no shape for you. VI. I have already made myself clear. VII. The Sub Realm has given you a dream. Do not covet what was not given.
Stay in the conversation. Do not leave when the fog gets rude. This is not a jump scare; it is an argument, and the demo wants you to hear it before you close the chapter.
How to trigger the Sub Realm
The exact entry point is not published by Frutiger Studios. Community reports from September 2026 suggest:
- Staying in a late-game area past a certain time threshold
- Entering a specific fog volume after the school
- Interacting with specific props in the later areas
If a clip shows the sermon without showing the trigger, pause and note the area. Compare against the all-badge playthrough in the middle of this page.
Why most players never reach it
The demo ends, or seems to end, before the Sub Realm argument is available. Players who sprint the school and log off miss the fog volume entirely. Players who go straight to the park and skip everything else do not build the story flags the Sub Realm requires.
The Sub Realm is gated behind finishing the school and understanding the dream’s structure. It is not a reward for speed; it is a reward for attention.
The Sub Realm and scripts
Noclip will skip the trigger volume. Fly will take you over the fog. Neither will earn the badge. The Sub Realm requires you to stand in a fog that the dream put there, as a person, and listen.
This is the one place in the demo where a script cannot substitute for paying attention. The movement scripts page documents why; this page documents why that matters.
Realism Is Not One and the Sub Realm
The rarest badge in the demo, Realism Is Not One (~1%), was added 29 August 2026. Some community reports connect it to extended time in the Sub Realm or to specific responses during the seven refusals. The trigger is still disputed.
If you are hunting both S-tier badges, finish everything else first. Do not build a religion around the last one percent.
