Hide and Seek Guide

The most repeated stuck message on Dreamality’s demo is not the school. It is a kid in a park. Comments on the official Demo Release short and on public clips say the same thing: “I cannot find the last shard,” then someone replies that hide-and-seek with the children awards one. This page is that reply, expanded so you do not have to scroll a YouTube comment section on a phone.

Play this before school. The park is the demo’s kindness. If you skip it, you will hunt a collectible in fluorescent halls that was sitting in grass.

Where the game starts

Reach the park on the demo walkthrough spine: apartment → open fieldsnihility lands → park. You will see children (duck shirt, overalls) and often the straw-hat companion. Talk to them until they invite you to play. Walking past without speaking can skip the round entirely.

This is an NPC game, not player-versus-player. Other avatars on the 25-player server are not the hiders. See multiplayer if a teammate is standing on your prompt.

How a round works

  1. Accept the invite. Let the kids hide. Do not sprint a simulator grid.
  2. Search like a child: trees, the far side of the path, behind the companion, against the glass building, in the camera’s blind spot from a second ago.
  3. The last kid is almost never under the map. Players who “overthought it” found him standing somewhere obvious.
  4. Finish the round. Wait for the thank-you line.
  5. Confirm Playful (“Thanks for playing with us!”) in your badge list. That badge is the receipt. The shard is paired with it in every consistent report from August–September 2026.

If Playful does not fire, you did not finish the round. Rejoin, talk again, do not noclip (movement scripts desync the find).

Finding the last child

Work this list once, slowly:

  • Behind the largest tree on the path, not the decorative sapling in the screenshot.
  • On the opposite side of the companion from where you spawned.
  • Against the glass building’s ground-floor corner, where third-person cameras clip.
  • In a dip or behind a bench. Dream Guy owns one bench in the demo; the park bench is still worth a look.
  • First-person makes you miss a kid beside your hip. Use third person for this round (controls).

Mobile players: rotate until the interact billboard is in front of your R6 head, then tap. The prompt hides behind the avatar.

What you get

  • Playful — B-tier on the badge tier list, about 69% award rate. Added 10 August 2026, so day-one players had to return.
  • A shard — the one people call “the last shard” when they skipped this scene. Details and the rest of the collectibles: how to get shards.
  • Dialogue toward A Listening Ear if you keep talking after the round (NPCs).

You do not get a code. There are still none as of September 2026.

After the thank-you

Stay in the park for a second lap of speech. Then leave for rain (Blind To The Rain) or school. Do not fly out. Ground interacts still exist.

If Playful is checked and you still feel one shard short, the missing one is not this kid. Sweep apartment, fields, and nihility as the shard guide lists. Ask Discord only after that list, and include which badges you already have on the checklist.

Hide-and-seek is a scene about playing with someone before the dream gets rude. Treat it like that and the shard is a side effect.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Dreamality demo players.

Does hide-and-seek give a shard?

Yes. Player reports consistently pair the park round with a shard and the Playful badge. See shards.

I cannot find the last kid.

Stop searching voids. Use third person, check trees, the building corner, and the far side of the path. Details are in the list above.

Do I need friends for hide-and-seek?

No. The children are NPCs. Other players are optional and can block prompts. See multiplayer.

Playful did not appear.

Finish the round and wait for the thank-you line. Then check inventory. If it is still missing, you skipped the invite — talk to the kids again.
